The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammed Buhari and other African leaders met with the President of the United States, Donald Trump at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly and President Buhari revealed to the media a part of what was discussed..
“This afternoon in New York I joined a number of fellow African Heads of State at a Lunch hosted by President Donald J. Trump. We discussed, among other things, America’s ongoing support for Nigeria’s fight against Terrorism and Corruption.
He then went further to thank President Trump for reaching out to him while in London for his medical trip.
“I thanked President Trump for his goodwill phone call to me earlier in the year, while I was in London, and for fulfilling the promise he made at the time regarding America’s supply of arms to our Military, to support the fight against Boko Haram.
“Our relationship with the United States is one we value very highly, and we will continue to count on America’s enthusiastic support, including for the repatriation of looted public funds, and in the security situation in the Lake Chad Basin and in the Gulf of Guinea.”
